The group acknowledging the contribution of a member John Evans who is retiring after 64 years work. John has supported the group for decades and held several posts including Chair on several occasions.

All at the group wished him well, John was presented with a give by the current Chair Karl Tindale as a token of the groups appreciation of his contribution over the years

The last meeting was on the 9th April

Topic for the meeting was Environmental issues

The first part of the meeting was used to discuss how members deal with Environmental issues i.e. Spills, Pollution response, silt management etc.

The second part of the meeting was a demonstration of products from Green Rhino who are designers and manufacturers of pollution prevention products, the Green Rhino range of products are designed to offer a dynamic approach to pollution control.  These are used by major contractors, Utility Companies, Highways projects, Rail projects and house builders around the UK.

The third part of the meeting was to discuss the solutions available and potential relevant application in member companies.

The last meeting was 12th March Lifting Operations

One of our members John Ellis from Callsafe Services for providing an intresting overview of lifting operations.

John discussed  the requirements of BS 7121 including general good practice with safe lifting operations using cranes on construction sites, also Signposting to CPA guidance relating to contract and crane hire lifting operations.

The second speaker for the day was

Lewis Duff from Safer Spher

Lewis provided an overview of CDM 2015 and the Principal Designer role when implemented by the Principal Contractor under RIBA Stages 5-7

Also Bull products gave an overview of their products availabe in relation to Wirless alarm solutions to raise the alarm in the event of  a fire on a construction site.
